David Angel, a 28-year-old from Oaxaca, Mexico, is not only a representative of modern masculine beauty but also a symbol of perseverance and determination. Six years ago, he worked as an audiovisual content producer and television host on cultural projects, fueled by a passion to share Mexico’s heritage with an international audience.
His love for his homeland’s culture and people became the driving force for David to enter the world of male beauty pageants, where he not only showcased confidence but also conveyed national pride. Over the years, he has won numerous titles: Male Model Oaxaca 2023, Mr. National Oaxaca 2023, Mr. Latin America Mexico 2023, Mr. Universe International Mexico 2024, and currently, Mister Universe International 2024.
Living to inspire: “Being a good man is also a journey”
When asked what he is most proud of, David did not mention victories or titles. He spoke about his journey of self-improvement, a long process full of challenges and reflection. To grow, he had to courageously let go of things and people that no longer aligned with his new path. “I had to let go of many things, many relationships. But it is precisely this letting go that helped me mature and understand the person I want to become.” David understands that self-perfection has no endpoint. “I know there is still a long way ahead. But I am proud that I have been moving forward, day by day, with a determined heart.”
Not stopping at beauty titles, David Angel is gradually building his image as a content creator focused on health and fitness. However, he emphasizes: “I don’t just want to inspire with a great physique, but also with a healthy, meaningful, and disciplined lifestyle.”
For David, health is not only physical but also a balance of mind and soul. He believes that when people live with purpose, good habits, and self-love, they can find true peace. He hopes that through positive media content, he can inspire young people to believe that every major change begins with small actions—training every day, loving themselves properly, and living responsibly.
Facing darkness in the search of light
Few people know that behind David’s confident smile is a story of battling depression. In 2018, he was diagnosed with the condition, marking a challenging period in his life. “Depression made me feel like my own mind was working against me. But instead of running away, I learned to face it.”
With the support of specialists and the love of his family, David gradually overcame it. More importantly, he developed a resilient mental strength that allows him to stand firm through any difficulty. “Now, I don’t see depression as a failure, but as a valuable lesson that helps me understand myself and empathize with others. It is precisely the pain that has made me more grateful for life.”
Family: The roots of compassion and courage
When asked about the greatest inspiration in his life, David does not hesitate to speak of his parents. “They are the ones who taught me all the values I hold today: honesty, hard work, and kindness.” From a young age, David witnessed his parents’ resilience in overcoming adversity, always placing love and character first. “Those lessons have been deeply ingrained in my mind, becoming a guiding principle in every decision I make.” For him, family is a foundation, a flame that nurtures character, and it is also the message he wishes to share with the younger generation: nothing can replace the value foundation that a family provides.
As an Honorary Ambassador of Mister Universe International, David Angel seeks to leverage the power of social media and multimedia to spread positive life messages. “Today, social media is a wonderful tool to share meaningful messages. I want to combine the program’s mission with my personal story to inspire people all over the world,” he shares.
David believes that anyone stepping onto a stage—whether a beauty pageant stage or a social media platform—has the responsibility to spread goodness. “Always have a purpose and a message that goes beyond appearance. True beauty comes from within, where the heart, intellect, and human values reside.”
