Hairstylist Cris Nguyen shaping the story of the Earth on the hair

Must read

At the opening night of Greenlife Legacy 2025 organized by Greenlife Service Trade Company Ltd and Magazine World in Hanoi, the chapter “EARTH – The Roots of Life” made an impressive debut for the four-element concept. At the heart of this chapter were the sculpted hair creations by hairstylist Cris Nguyen — a master with 18 years of experience, known for his philosophy Art of Heart. For him, hair is not merely an aesthetic material but a living structure, where earth, strata, and roots are transformed into highly symbolic hair forms.

The “Earth” collection was crafted as a series of art pieces. Root Ascension: the hair built high and split into many branches, rising like roots breaking out of the ground — powerful and full of life. Cracked Surface: a copper-red hair mass with cracked ridges, mimicking fractured earth, evoking a raw yet captivating feel. Sedimentary Swirl: a giant rose-copper swirl sweeping from forehead to cheek, like coiling sediment layers. Each hair structure is both strong and fluid, echoing the movement of soil and rocks in nature.

Across all three hairstyles, hairstylist Cris Nguyen maintained a balance of weight and lightness, hardness and softness, dryness and smoothness, so every detail serves the idea that “earth is the root of life.” The hair layers were stacked to create visual rhythm like geological strata — rugged yet refined.

Another highlight of the collection was its color palette. Cris Nguyen explored hues tied to nature: moss green, deep brown, earthy red, and oxidized copper. These shades were not only symbolic but also recalled eternal life. The inspiration comes from the vegan philosophy of the brand Bulbs&Roots, where color palettes honor nature and sustainability. Under the stage lights, each layer glimmered like shimmering minerals. The mix of deep base tones and metallic highlights turned the hair into a vivid geological surface.

Within a LED mapping space simulating tectonic movement, each catwalk step was heightened by the deep resonance of cello and violin. Cris Nguyen’s hair creations merged with architecturally inspired fashion forms — acid-washed denim and structured corsets. The contrast between the dry, edgy hair textures and the garment lines created a visual symphony where differences become perfect complements.

What makes Cris Nguyen special is that his work doesn’t stop on the runway. From complex hair sculptures, he develops lighter wearable versions: Root Ascension – Lite with just enough raised strands to stand out; Cracked Surface – Lite with subtle broken lines; Sedimentary Swirl – Lite with a compact swirl. This flexibility transforms the collection from performance art into inspiration for everyday clients.

He once shared: “Technique is the foundation, but emotion is what stays with the audience the longest.” With “Earth,” Cris Nguyen elevated his Art of Heart philosophy to a new level — working with the heart to touch hearts. In his hands, hair is not just an aesthetic accessory but a cultural symbol, reminding people of their eternal bond with nature.

“Earth” is not only the opening chapter of Greenlife Legacy 2025 but also a testament affirming hairstylist Cris Nguyen — the artist who has turned the language of earth into a living art form on hair. From bold, towering hair structures to gentle swirling lines, from deep mossy browns to radiant copper shines, everything merges into a geological symphony — both life-giving and eternal.
