Reshma Ramesh: Confidence, discipline, and love for performing on the stage

Must read

From her very first moments standing in front of the mirror and striking poses, 12-year-old Reshma A/P Ramesh from Malaysia has clearly felt the joy of walking the runway and expressing herself. When her family encouraged her to join a small children’s competition, she gradually realized that performing was an environment where she could showcase her confidence, develop discipline, and explore new abilities. From there, her journey into modeling began naturally and enthusiastically.

The love for the stage originating from family support

Reshma began exploring modeling at the age of 10, after her mother noticed her keen interest in dressing neatly and walking confidently in front of the camera. The feeling of standing on stage, listening to music, and confidently performing each catwalk step became her motivation to join modeling classes and participate in small community events.

Her family’s support played a crucial role. They helped Reshma understand that each competition is a learning opportunity, with results being just one part of the experience. This guidance allowed her to maintain a relaxed mindset, focus on improving with each performance, and avoid unnecessary pressure.

Remarks from two titles associated with culture and identity

Among her achievements, Reshma is most proud of winning the Miss Little Tamilac – Grand Tamilachi 2023 (Grand Winner) title. This was the first competition where she reached the top position, marking a memorable milestone in her journey.

In addition, the Miss Pre Teen Saree Beauty – Grand Winner title holds special significance for Reshma, as it allowed her to showcase her love for traditional attire and cultural heritage. Walking the stage in a saree was her way of honoring her roots and presenting her community’s culture to the audience.

According to Reshma, each title is not only recognition from the judges but also a motivation to continue developing her confidence, skills, and stage presence.

Retaining life balance through ordinary hobbies and an eager-to-learn spirit

Outside of her catwalk training, Reshma enjoys reading stories, dancing, and participating in school activities. These hobbies help her maintain a positive mindset, nurture creativity, and avoid being overwhelmed by academic pressure.

She also spends plenty of time with family and friends, which Reshma believes helps her feel at peace and stay naturally composed on stage. Thanks to this balanced environment, she consistently presents a friendly demeanor, a bright smile, and confidence during every performance.

Reshma places great importance on a learning mindset. She trains regularly, remembers her instructors’ feedback, and constantly reminds herself that each experience contributes to her personal growth.

Thriving aspirations and the desire to inspire fellow youths

Reshma aims to continue performing on larger stages, both within Malaysia and internationally. She dreams of becoming a professional model, with opportunities to showcase herself on global runways while representing the beauty of culture and the confidence of young people.

Beyond personal development, Reshma hopes to inspire other children who may be hesitant to express themselves. “Everyone deserves to be proud of who they are,” she says, explaining her desire to motivate young peers who share the same passion.

With a foundation of discipline, family support, and a love for the stage, Reshma is gradually building her own path. The achievements she has earned so far mark important milestones, but for her, the journey ahead is where she will continue to learn and assert herself.
